Galileo's book a classy one

LEXINGTON, Ky. - First-year stallion Galileo, winner of the Epsom and Irish derbies last year, has a book laden with Group 1 winners and producers.

Among the mares due to visit Galileo are Canadian champion Alywow; European champion Britannia, dam of top European older mare and 1997 Breeders' Cup Turf runner-up Borgia; Irish and English champion Park Express; and 1981 champion juvenile filly Before Dawn.

Grade or Group 1 winners in Galileo's book include Colorspin, who also is the dam of Group 1 winners Opera House and Kayf Tara; Epsom Oaks winner Love Divine; Maximova, dam of Septieme Ciel; Milligram, winner of England's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes; Ascot Fillies Mile winner Aqaarid; and Coronation Stakes winner Balisada.

The Grade or Group 1 producers are led by Floripedes, dam of European champion Montjeu; Whakilyric, dam of Johann Quatz, Hernando, and North American graded stakes-placed Walter Willy; and Welsh Love, dam of Second Empire.

Galileo, a son of Sadler's Wells and champion Urban Sea (Miswaki), stands for 50,000 Irish punts, or about $55,610.
