Gale storms to 4 wins at Fairmont

There were several highlights over the weekend at the Fairmont Park, starting with Mike Gale's four winners Friday night. Gale is Fairmount's leading active jockey with nearly 1,800 wins. Gale kicked off the evening by winning both halves of a $33.40 daily double, with Penny One ($6.40) in the first and Adams Peak ($6.20) in the second. Gale then took the sixth aboard Delaneyimoutahere ($4.40) and the 10th with Rainbow's Rally ($5.40).

On Saturday, trainer Ronnie Ward sent out three winners, starting with Keysham ($17.60) in the fourth, Little Joe Tubb ($8) in the sixth, and Cruzin West ($5.40) in the ninth. The win was the fifth for Cruzin West in 12 starts this year.

Also on Saturday, jockey Mike James scored a four-bagger. James won both ends of the double ($59.60), riding T. J.'s Ivy ($15) in the first and Becky's Dream ($6) in the second. James also scored with Swag's Ultima ($10) in the third and Miss Le Cou Cou in the eighth. James rode three more winners Tuesday to put pressure on leading rider Vincente Flores, who holds a 112-105 lead over James in the standings with less than two months to go in the meet.
