Galactic Princess got the right kind of pace setup on Sunday when she closed into quick fractions for a 1 1/4-length win over Last Dragoness in the $30,000 Encantadora at Arapahoe Park.

The race was one of two Thoroughbred stakes on the card. A J Samurai remained undefeated in two starts with his win in the $40,000 Colorado Thoroughbred Breeders Association Futurity.

The Encantadora was for 3-year-old fillies over six furlongs. Galactic Princess ($4.80) settled off contested fractions of 21.71 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.51 seconds for the half-mile. She went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:11.11.

Scott Stevens was aboard the winner for trainer Ty Garrett.

The Encantadora was the third career stakes win for Galactic Princess. Last year she captured the Arapahoe Park Debutante and the Arizona Juvenile Fillies at Turf Paradise. Galactic Princess is a daughter of Ready’s Image and the mare Western Hemisphere, a multiple stakes winner of $417,575. Galactic Princess was bred by Mark Hillman and races for Hilltop Stable and Eleanor Martin.

A J Samurai ($2.80) closed for a 3 3/4-length win over Speedo Te in the CTBA Futurity. He covered six furlongs in 1:13.53. A J Samurai is a son of First Samurai. In his only other start, he won a maiden special weight for Colorado-breds by 6 1/2 lengths in his career debut June 17 at Arapahoe. Karlo Lopez was aboard Sunday for breeder-owner Robert Schreiber and trainer Kenneth Gleason.
