Gainesway raises Tapit’s fee to $150,000 for 2014

Gainesway in Lexington, Ky., released its stud fees for the 2014 breeding season, led by Tapit, whose fee will increase from $125,000 to $150,000.

The Grade 1-winning 12-year-old son of Pulpit is represented by 123 winners this year through Nov. 6, including 11 stakes winners. Among his leading runners of 2013 are Grade 1 winners Joyful Victory, Grade 2 winners Honorable Dillon, Untapable, and Flashback, and Wood Memorial runner-up Normandy Invasion. He is also the sire of champions Stardom Bound and Hansen.

A pair of Gainesway stallions will stand for lower fees in 2014.

Dual classic-winning champion Afleet Alex, an 11-year-old Northern Afleet horse, will stand for $12,500 after posting a fee of $15,000 in 2013. Also standing for a reduced rate will be Grade 1 winner To Honor and Serve. The 5-year-old son of Bernardini goes from $30,000 to $20,000.

All other fees for returning Gainesway stallions remain unchanged from 2013.
