Gaffalione opens up in jockey race

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Tyler Gaffalione widened his lead over Edgard Zayas in the jockey standings to 46-38 with a pair of victories on Sunday’s card. Emisael Jaramillo also had a double on Mother’s Day to increase his lock on third place to 28-20 over Luca Panici. Miguel Vasquez rounds out the top five ahead of Wednesday’s card.

Marco Meneses also rode a pair of winners Sunday – Hold That Kitten and Bella Sunrise, both trained by Luis Duco.

Jockey Ariosto Delgado registered his first victory in the United States when guiding That Charlie home on top in Saturday’s second race. Delgado is a native of Panama.

◗ The next two stakes here are restricted to Florida-breds: the $100,000 Big Drama on Saturday and its filly counterpart, the $100,000 Musical Romance, the following Saturday. Both races will be run at seven furlongs.

◗ Friday’s main event is a good one, a one-mile turf test for older fillies and mares to be decided under second-level optional-claiming conditions. The seven-horse field includes Sigue Regaloncita, a Group 2 winner in her native Chile; Grade 3 winner Mizz Money; and King’s Ghost and the multiple stakes winner Lori’s Store, both trained by Marty Wolfson.

◗ There is a carryover of $218,820 in the Rainbow 6 jackpot, which begins with the fourth event on Wednesday’s nine-race program.
