Grade 3 winner Fury Kapcori has been retired from racing and will stand the 2016 breeding season at Brent and Crystal Fernung’s Journeyman Stud in Ocala, Fla.

The 5-year-old son of Tiznow ends his career with six wins in 18 starts for earnings of $521,040, highlighted by wins in the Grade 3 Precisionist Stakes, as well as the non-graded Charlie Palmer Futurity and Santana Mile Stakes. He also placed in the Grade 1 Cashcall Futurity and the Grade 2 Californian Stakes.

Jerry Hollendorfer trained Fury Kapcori and co-owned him with Rick Awtrey and George Todaro.

“Fury Kapcori was a top racehorse,” Hollendorfer said. “He was a precocious 2-year-old and an even better older horse. He earned over a half-million dollars, but if not for a couple of untimely injuries he would have made a whole lot more.”

Bred in Kentucky by Diamond A Racing Corp., Fury Kapcori is out of the winning Go For Gin mare Gin Running, whose five foals to race are all winners, including Grade 2 winner Tizfiz and stakes winner Dixie Commander. He is from the family of Horse of the Year Favorite Trick and Grade 2 winner Favorite Tale.

“Fury Kapcori is by Tiznow, his dam has produced three stakes winners from five foals to race and he is an outcross to Mr. Prospector, Storm Cat and Seattle Slew line mares,” Brent Fernung said. “Fury Kapcori has the pedigree and race record you want to see in a stallion. When we saw him in California, Crystal and I were completely blown away. He is a magnificent physical specimen.”
