Freud to do shuttle stud duty

Freud, New York's leading sire for the last two years, will shuttle for the first time this year when he takes up residence in Argentina for the Southern Hemisphere breeding season.

A 12-year-old Storm Cat stallion, Freud will stand at Alberto and Renata Stein's La Leyenda in Argentina's Las Pampas area. In 2009, the farm stood Exchange Rate, Stormello, and Flag Down. Exchange Rate will stand at La Leyenda again in 2010, and The farm also will stand Offlee Wild during the Southern Hemisphere season.

"La Leyenda has purchased mares and entered into long-term foal-sharing arrangements with a number of mares owned by prominent North Americans interested in Argentine racing," said Dan Rosenberg, who currently is representing La Leyenda in North America.

Freud stands in New York for Sequel Stallions. He is the sire of Grade 2 winner Franny Freud this year as well as Peru's champion turf horse Zeide Isaac, graded-placed runners Logic Way and Lights Off Annie, and other stakes performers. He led New York's sire standings in 2008 and 2009.

Freud's advertised fee in New York in 2010 is $6,500. He is ranked third on this year's New York sires' list.
