Frankiefourfingers wires Clarendon

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - First-time starter Frankiefourfingers led all the way in the $164,550 Clarendon Stakes for Canadian-bred 2-year-olds Saturday at Woodbine.

Favored Brighton Ridge, a first-timer who cost $1 million as a yearling, broke slowly in the 5 1/2-furlong dash. Frankiefourfingers set fractions of 22.28 and 46.03 seconds while being tracked by Lucky Larue, who finished two lengths behind in second. Magic Jack was third, while Brighton Ridge rallied belatedly to be fourth. The final time was 1:05.26 over a fast track.

"I got to the lead pretty easily," said Emile Ramsammy, who rode the winner. "He did it professionally, and was very game."

Frankiefourfingers ($32.30), based at Fort Erie with trainer Ed Freeman, earned $98,730 for 50 Stables, Goldie Stable, and partners.

Marisa Go comes from last

Marisa Go ($13.50) rallied from last under Constant Montpellier to capture Saturday's supporting feature, the $108,000 Zadracarta Stakes for fillies and mares.

Marisa Go covered six furlongs on firm turf in 1:08.73, finishing a half-length in front of Healing Knowledge. Mysterious Affair was a close third, while favored Sky Alliance ran fourth.

Marisa Go banked $64,800 for her owner and trainer, Carlo Fuoco, who was winning his first stakes.
