Four stakes winners in Tellike

Six filly and mare sprinters, led by four stakes winners in 2008, will contest the $60,000, six-furlong Tellike Stakes at Evangeline Downs.

The field includes the Steve Asmussen-trained Classify and Polyhymnia, who will race uncoupled.

Classify won the Spring Fever Stakes earlier this year at Oaklawn Park and most recently finished third in the Carousel Stakes on March 29. The 4-year-old Classify has redefined her running style to become more of a closer, and there is ample speed to set up her late kick in the Tellike.

Polyhymnia captured the Mademoiselle Stakes at Delta Downs in late February before finishing fourth in the Carousel, directly behind her stablemate. A daughter of Songandaprayer, Polyhymnia has won 5 of 12 starts.

Doyouwanttodance, the surprise winner of the American Beauty at Oaklawn in her only stakes appearance, drew the rail, which gives her an advantage over the other speed.

The other stakes winner in the field is Carson City Babe, who defeated Louisiana-breds in the Lagniappe Stakes at Fair Grounds in March.

Precious Kiss and Ruling Class, both coming off allowance wins at Fair Grounds, round out the Tellike field, which will be run as the ninth race on an expanded 11-race program.
