Four in a row for Diamond Fever

Diamond Fever remained undefeated on turf and extended his overall winning streak to four races when he captured his stakes debut Saturday in the $59,850 Stanton at Delaware Park.

Jose Caraballo, who became Diamond Fever's regular rider when he won his maiden to begin his current streak on May 14, asked the 3-year-old son of Seeking the Gold to make a wide move from fourth turning for home in the 1 1/16-mile grass race. Diamond Fever ($4.40), trained by Michael Matz, took the lead in midstretch and held off a late bid by Wheels Up at Noon to prevail by a half-length. The winning time over a firm course was 1:42.96.

Diamond Fever, winless in his first five starts, is now 3 for 3 on grass. His other victory came in a turf race that was switched to a sloppy main track.

Wheels Up at Noon, the second choice at 5-2, finished three-quarters of a length in front of Dinner in Odem, the longest shot in the field of seven at 35-1.
