Four brave souls face Born to Dance

MUSKEGON, Mich. - For a while Tuesday morning, it looked like the $50,000-added Michigan Juvenile Fillies Stakes at Great Lakes Downs on Saturday was going to be a walkover.

Born to Dance's entry slip sat alone in the box for most of the morning before four more entries appeared in time for the draw of the mile and 70-yard race. The Michigan Juvenile Fillies will be the ninth race on a 10-race card, which starts at 4 p.m.

Born to Dance, trained by James Jackson, was beaten at the wire in her debut in Kentucky, but has been sensational here. Born to Dance has four victories in as many starts here, including the Temptress, the Sickle's Image, and the Michigan Sire Stakes by about 10 lengths each.

Jackson has compared Born to Dance to Cashier's Dream, who, like Born to Dance, is by Service Stripe. Cashier's Dream began her career with Jackson, before he sold her to Team Valor and partners, for whom she won the Grade 1 Spinaway at Saratoga.

Terry Houghton gets the return call on Born to Dance, who will break from post 2.

Facing Born to Dance are Spring Willow, Luis Martinez Jr. aboard; So Miss Jeopardy, Bob Cummings; Salinas Regal Luck, Freddie Mata; and Part Magic, Luis J. Martinez. All starters will carry 122 pounds.
