Fort Erie: Wisdomisgold takes Juvenile

Wisdomisgold lived up to her billing at Fort Erie on Saturday, capturing the $75,000 Juvenile Stakes by two lengths.

The Juvenile, a six-furlong race for fillies who went through the open yearling sale or mixed sale at Woodbine last fall, attracted a field of five, and Wisdomisgold was the 1-2 favorite.

Trained at Woodbine by Sean Hall and ridden by Woodbine regular Slade Callaghan, Wisdomisgold had finished third in the Nandi Stakes on Aug. 8 and won her maiden Saturday while making her fourth career start.

"I figured this would be the perfect race for her," said Hall, who also had nominated Wisdomisgold to Sunday's Muskoka Stakes at Woodbine.

On Saturday, Wisdomisgold dueled with Cold Hard Dash through fractions of 22.72 and 45.97 seconds before putting that one away in early stretch.

Lady Actor, the only winner in the field after her maiden score first time out at Fort Erie, finished a closing second, 4 1/2 lengths ahead of third-place Cold Hard Dash.

Turn on the Juice and Archies Gal completed the order of finish. The final time was 1:12.21.

Wisdomisgold, owned by Wesley Racing Stable, earned $45,000 to bring her career bankroll to $74,781. She returned $3.10 and keyed an $8.30 exactor.
