Former Okla. commissioner dies

Larry Hammer, a past chairman of the Oklahoma Racing Commission, died of an apparent heart attack while on vacation last week and was buried Monday. He was 62. Hammer, who owned a chain of newspapers, served on the ORC panel for six years from 1993 to 1999, and was a past president of the Oklahoma Press Association.
