California Chrome, pictured working at Los Alamitos on Oct. 22, has adjusted his workout schedule due to potential rain.

ARCADIA, Calif. - With rain in the forecast in upcoming days, trainer Art Sherman has called an audible with California Chrome. Rather than have him work as originally scheduled Saturday at Los Alamitos, he will work Thursday morning at Los Alamitos, van to Santa Anita over the weekend, and breeze over the track here next week just days before the $6 million Breeders' Cup Classic on Nov. 5, Sherman said Wednesday morning.

Sherman said he had talked to track superintendent Dennis Moore, who told him to expect a half to three-quarters of an inch of rain in the area, beginning Thursday night.

"I don't want to work him over a sealed track. That's too scary," Sherman said.

As a result, "I might breeze him down the lane next week at Santa Anita, maybe three-eighths, to open him up," Sherman said.
