Force the Pass likely for Secretariat

Email

Force the Pass, winner of the $1.25 million Belmont Derby, will likely make his next start in the Grade 1 Secretariat at Arlington Park on Aug. 15, according to trainer Alan Goldberg.

“I think we’ll probably go to the Secretariat and then the Hill Prince and keep him with 3-year-olds,” Goldberg said. “He came back great from his last race. He’s a happy horse.”

The Secretariat, a 1 1/4-mile turf race, recently had its purse trimmed from $500,000 to $450,000. The Grade 3, $500,000 Hill Prince at 1 1/8 miles will be run Oct. 3 at Belmont Park.

This three year old moves quicker than any other I've seen for a long time. Down the stretch he is reckless to get to the wire and determined to win. Hope I get 8-1 in the Breeders. AP beware triple yes Breeders no.

It's hard to believe that there aren't any graded stakes at 12f on turf for three year olds in The United States considering how important that surface and distance in Europe and Asia.
