Foose heads Ed Burke trials

In the most anticipated futurity trial debut in many years at Los Alamitos, Foose starts in the trials to the Grade 1, estimated $1.2 million Ed Burke Futurity on Saturday night.

Foose debuted in a 300-yard maiden race and stopped the clock in 15.19 seconds, the fastest time ever by a 2-year-old first-time starter at Los Alamitos and the third-fastest time ever by a 2-year-old at the track.

Owner, breeder, and trainer Paul Jones then sold half-interest in the colt to Ed Allred for an undisclosed sum. Allred owns Los Alamitos Race Course and has been named national champion owner four times and national champion breeder eight times.

Jones also has the only Grade 1 winner in the trials, Kindergarten winner Revv It Up. The filly won the Kindergarten by a nose over Sixish, who will also returns in the Ed Burke trials.

Revv It Up is undefeated in three starts while Sixish won his Kindergarten trial before the narrow defeat in the finals.
