Fonner Park track report

As Fonner Park's meet winds down, the trainers' race has remained a head-and-head battle, with Marv Johnson and David Anderson tied at 23 wins apiece heading into the final two weekends of racing.

Both trainers have six titles to their credit over the years, with Anderson taking down the past three. Whoever wins this year's title will join Don Von Hemel and his seven titles at second place on the all-time list here. Tim Gleason is the leader with eight training titles, including a run of five straight from 1983 to 1987.

Curtis Kimes has a firm grip on the riding title, as the six-time defending champion, Perry Compton, has moved his tack to Prairie Meadows and will be riding here only occasionally in the final days of the meet. Kimes jumped out in front early in the meet and maintains a 59-53 lead over Compton in only his second season of riding here. Kimes is expected to ride in the opening weekends of Lincoln's upcoming meet before returning to his regular base in Oklahoma.
