Fonner Park track report

Apprentice rider Mike Luark captured his first career victory last Friday when he guided Hippy ($10.20) to victory in the fifth race. Luark began riding at the start of this meet and had suffered some close losses before Friday's win. He is the son of trainer Monty Luark and cousin of fellow rider Mark Luark, who is currently sidelined by injury.

Beth Butler collected her first victory of the meet Saturday when she closed out the card aboard Aclare with a $98.20 upset. Butler is new to Fonner Park, but simulcast patrons will recognize her as a regular on the Ohio circuit as well as Turfway Park in Kentucky.

Leading rider Curtis Kimes enjoyed his second four-win day of the season on Saturday as he maintains a 23-17 edge over Fonner's nine-time leader Perry Compton, who had three victories on the day. R. D. Williams, also a nine-time leading rider here, and Dennis Collins each posted triples on Sunday.

Marv Johnson sent out three winners on Friday's card to keep an 11-9 edge over David Anderson in the trainer standings.
