Fonner Park track report

The early leaders in the jockey and trainer standings are a perfect reversal of last year's leaders as Curtis Kimes, in his second year of riding at Fonner Park, had a riding triple Saturday and boosted his lead over Perry Compton to 18-12 after three weekends. Compton was forced to take off his mounts Saturday and Sunday due to the flu. R.D. Williams posted triples on Friday and Sunday to move into third with nine wins.

In the trainers' race, last year's runner-up, Marv Johnson, has saddled seven winners from his 35 starters to top the early standings. Defending champion David Anderson is off to a 6-for-40 start, but saw his luck pick up Friday, when he saddled three winners.

* Local radio station KRGI 1430-AM began a Saturday afternoon racing talk show at the beginning of the meet. Hosted by Jason Dannelly, the show runs from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday afternoons and includes the live call of each race from Fonner Park.
