Fonner Park track report

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - Irish Flyer carries top weight of 120 pounds to head a field of 10 in the $25,000 Orphan Kist Handicap for statebred fillies and mares at Fonner Park.

Trained by Terrell Hemmer, Irish Flyer failed to fire her best shot on opening weekend when she rallied to be third in the four-furlong Bold Accent Handicap. With a start under her belt, she should be poised for a return to the form that saw her win the Falls Amiss, Amadevil, and Bill Callihan handicaps at Lincoln and Columbus a year ago. Jerry Carkeek has the ride from post 1.

Sandpit Dancer, last year's winner of the six-furlong Orphan Kist, encountered traffic problems through upper stretch of the Bold Accent and faded to ninth. Kelly Murray rides Sandpit Dancer, who won the Matchmaker at Lincoln.

Brian Roberts sends out the duo of Flaming Night and Keylargo Lady as separate betting interests. Flaming Night does her best running near the front end and should be close to Irish Flyer in the early going. Dan Beck rides from post 3. Keylargo Lady, ridden by Lee Sensenbach from post 7, should be just off the front-runners.
