Fonner: 'Missy' seeks repeat

Missy Can Do will carry high weight of 122 pounds when she defends her title against seven other fillies and mares in the $10,000-added Bold Accent Handicap, a four-furlong race at Fonner Park.

Joe Thomas trains Missy Can Do, who won the Bluegrass Handicap at Lincoln last year en route to winning four races and more than $32,000. Curtis Kimes has the mount from post 7. Thomas also sends out Tee Times Two, who will race uncoupled in the wagering.

Southern Alert should be the speed of the race. She won the Al Swihart Memorial Handicap here last year. Southern Alert rarely has been topped leaving the gate and should open a clear lead heading up the backstretch of this five-eighth-mile oval. R.D. Williams rides from post 6.

Brian Roberts sends out a coupled entry in Flaming Night and Starlord, both of whom bear watching. Starlord posted five wins last year while earning more than $46,000. She was claimed at Atokad Downs for $6,500 and picked up two wins and a second for her new connections. Mike Ziegler rides from post 5.

Flaming Night scored just one win last year. Her biggest effort came in the Claiming Crown Glass Slipper at Canterbury Park, where she finished third. Dennis Collins rides from post 2.
