Fong's Thong been doing no wrong

Fong's Thong, a maiden winner at Arlington last summer, can earn Group 2 stripes at Doncaster Thursday in the seven-furlong Park Stakes.

Fong's Thong has won both his starts in England since owner Joe Allbritton sent him to Lambourn-based trainer Brian Meehan. Main threats to him are Suggestive, runner-up in a Group 2 and a Group 3 in his last two starts, listed-winner Pastoral Pursuits, and Godolphin Mile winner Firebreak.

In the one-mile Group 2 May Hill Stakes for juvenile fillies, Maids Causeway, winner of the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket on Aug. 7, renews a rivalry with Queen of Poland, who beat her by a head in the Star Stakes at Sandown on July 22. Playful Act, a full sister to Group 3 winner Percussionist, could be the spoiler.

Also, Darasim can maintain his status as a leading stayer with a victory in the 2 1/4-mile Group 2 Doncaster Cup. He is a better bet to stay the course than either Millenary or Dancing Bay.
