Flying Zee dispersal to have final session in New York

Email

Highcliff Farm in Delanson, N. Y., will host the third and final phase of the Flying Zee Stable dispersal on Jan. 21.

The auction of 65 to 70 horses will begin at noon. Auctioneer Seth Gregory will handle the sale.

Established by the late Carl Lizza, Flying Zee became a leading owner and breeder in New York. Lizza died in July. The stable's first two dispersal phases took place at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale and Fasig-Tipton Midlantic December mixed sale.

Phase three at Highcliff Farm will include Flying Zee's remaining broodmares, weanlings, and racing-age horses.

Broodmares include some by such sires as Elusive Quality, Ghostzapper, Gulch, Johannesburg, Lion Heart, Point Given, War Chant, and Wild Again.

"Mr. Lizza was an avid pedigree student and worked very hard building up these families," said Highcliff's general manager, Dr. Lynwood O'Cain.
