Florida Thoroughbred Farm Managers to host charity stallion season auction


The Florida Thoroughbred Farm Managers’ “Horsemen Helping Horsemen” annual charity stallion season auction will be held Jan. 21-23.

Proceeds from the auction will go toward Florida horsemen in need by providing emergency assistance with rent, utilities, and food. The organization also provides scholarships for the children of Florida horse industry employees.

The online auction will begin Wednesday, Jan. 21, and will end on Friday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. Eastern.

A total of 75 no-guarantee seasons to stallions in Florida, Kentucky, and New York have been donated for the auction.

Among the notable Florida sires with seasons in the auction are City Wolf, Hunters Bay, The Green Monkey, Aikenite, Benny the Bull, Corfu, Fort Loudon, Two Step Salsa, Archwarrior, Rattlesnake Bridge, With Distinction, Duke of Mischief, Gone Astray, Wrote, Adios Charlie, High Cotton, In Summation, Kantharos, Overdriven, Prospective, Brethren, Pollard’s Vision, Treasure Beach, Crown of Thorns, Magna Graduate, and Vineyard Haven.

New York stallions represented include Congaree, the sire of Grade 1 winner and Eclipse Award finalist Don’t Tell Sophia, while the more than a dozen young Kentucky stallions represented include Belmont Stakes winner Drosselmeyer.

Stallions represented in the sale who will be standing their first seasons at stud in 2015 include Capo Bastone, Drill, Uncaptured, and Handsome Mike, in Florida; Real Solution in Kentucky; and Willcox Inn in New York.
