Floral Sky, Crafty Blue Kat dead heat for first in Scarlet and Gray

It took a long look at the photo finish before the ThistleDown placing judges decided the result was a dead heat Sunday afternoon in the $50,000 Scarlet and Gray Handicap.

Floral Sky under Jason Lumpkins and Crafty Blue Kat under Walter De La Cruz hit the wire at the same time, and Pyrite Blues was a neck back in third in the six-furlong race for older Ohio-bred fillies and mares.

Crafty Blue Kat was kept just off the early pace, and Floral Sky came from last to finish at the same time over a fast track. Pyrite Blues was in mid-pack early and rallied to miss by just a neck to finish third.

The running time for the six furlongs over a fast track was 1:12.64. Crafty Blue Kat paid $14.60 to win, and Floral Sky paid $14.40.
