Fleet Indian, who was retired after tearing a suspensory in the Breeders' Cup Distaff, will be bred to Storm Cat in 2007, her owner announced Wednesday.

The 5-year-old Indian Charlie mare is a leading contender for the Eclipse Award for older female with wins in the Grade 1 Beldame and Grade 1 Personal Ensign this season. Owner Paul Saylor had planned to sell her after the Distaff, but her injury caused him to scratch her from the Keeneland November breeding stock sale. Saylor said in his Wednesday announcement that Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Ky., has "fully stabilized" Fleet Indian's leg.

Saylor said that he could sell Fleet Indian privately or publicly next year.

Fleet Indian, a daughter of the Afleet mare Hustleeta, is boarding at Taylor Made Farm near Lexington.
