Flashy Bull back in the Haskell

OCEANPORT, N.J. - A week of indecision apparently ended Friday night when West Point Thoroughbreds opted to run Flashy Bull in the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park instead of the West Virginia Derby at Mountaineer Racetrack.

Both stakes for 3-year-olds take place Sunday.

Flashy Bull was on target for the Haskell until Friday when the decision was made to run in West Virginia because it appeared to be an easier spot.

That decision was reversed Friday night.

West Point president "Terry Finley called me last night and said he would like to run in the Haskell, that he changed his mind," said trainer Kiaran McLaughlin on Saturday morning. "I said 'You're entitled to do that.'

"We were going to run on Aug. 6, that's the main thing. We hadn't shipped the horse, so it's no big deal."
