Five in row for Krz Ruckus

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Favored Krz Ruckus won the front-end battle and the war in the $105,700 Overskate Stakes, a seven-furlong dash for Ontario-sired runners at Woodbine.

It was the fifth consecutive victory for Krz Ruckus, who dueled with Hopeful Moment through fractions of 22.27 and 44.77 seconds over a track that favored speed.

Krz Ruckus opened a clear lead at the head of the stretch, and was never threatened. He prevailed by 2 3/4 lengths over a closing A Genuine Honour, who was a length in front of third-place finisher Steady Ruckus. The final time was 1:24.27.

"He loves to run with horses," said Dino Luciani, who rode the winner. "When he's by himself, he thinks there's nothing left for him to do. He's still learning. I think he'll be better when he gets older."

Krz Ruckus ($3.60) banked $63,420 in his second straight stakes tally for owners Ron Guidolin and partners. He is trained by Mike DePaulo.

* In her first race for trainer Josie Carroll, Serena's Tune won Wednesday's second race on the card, an $80,000 optional claimer. She led all the way in the 6 1/2-furlong turf race to win by five lengths under hand ride from Todd Kabel.

Owned by John Sikura, Serena's Tune is a daughter of Mr. Prospector and champion Serena's Song. She won the La Habra Stakes on March 2 at Santa Anita when she was trained by Neil Drysdale.
