Five last-out winners in Evangeline feature

Blue-collar starter allowance types have the spotlight Friday evening at Evangeline Downs in an extremely competitive feature. Five of the eight fillies and mares slated to go five furlongs on the turf are coming off victories, and the public will likely have a difficult time determining a favorite.

Although she failed to win her last race, All Time is the one to beat. The Keith Bourgeois-trained horse has been consistent this year with four wins from seven starts. She comes off a near miss for a $20,000 optional claiming tag at Evangeline on June 3 and will be making her turf debut under jockey Diego Saenz.

Kookoorotcha may be poised for a turnaround. Trained by Frank Leggio, the Afternoon Deelites mare has not tried the grass since she was defeated by a nose here last summer for a $25,000 claiming price. She has shown little over the main track since but could wake up with the surface switch.

Bourgeois, the leading trainer at Evangeline, will also send out Rachelsfinesthour. A winner of her last start against $7,500 statebred claiming company, she has limited turf experience but employed a rallying style last time that could come in handy Friday night in a race loaded with speed.
