Five go in 9 4/5 at OBS breeze show


Five juveniles breezed an eighth of a mile in 9 4/5 seconds on Tuesday during the second session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. spring sale of 2-year-olds in training.

The horses worked over the Ocala Training Center’s all-weather Safetrack surface.

Following are the five horses that tied for the day’s fastest breeze at one furlong.

- Hip 211, a City Zip colt out of the Argentine Group 3-winning Halo Sunshine mare Candy Apple, who is the dam of one winner from three foals to race. Candy Apple is a half-sister to Argentine champion, U.S. Grade 1 winner, and top sire Candy Ride, as well as South African Group 3 winner Candy Singer. Crupi's New Castle Farm consigns the colt, named Pedal Fast, as agent.

- Hip 216, a Curlin filly out of the placed Capote mare Capote Blues, whose three winners from seven runners includes Grade 2 winner Blues Street and Grade 3-placed Beale Street. Grade 1 winner Stormy Blues is the Florida-bred's second dam. The filly is consigned by McKathan Bros., agent.

- Hip 259 is a first-crop Jimmy Creed colt out of the stakes-winning Jade Hunter mare Chitka, who is the dam of eight winners from nine foals to race and has had two stakes producers. The extended family includes Grade 2 winner Jade Flush, Grade 2-placed Stydahar, and Grade 3-placed Royal Affirmed. Julie Davies consigns the colt, as agent.

- Hip 345 Artistic Diva, a Munnings filly out of the unraced Mizzen Mast mare Diva N Disguise, who has had one foal to race. The Illinois-bred is from the family of Grade 1-placed stakes winner Diva's Diamond, and is consigned by Price Thoroughbreds, agent.

- Hip 375 is a Friesan Fire filly out of the winning Two Punch mare Duck the Punch, who is the dam of seven winners from eight foals to race. The Maryland-bred's page features Puerto Rican champion Gale in the Vale and stakes winners Lady Beaumont, Tim's Crossing, First Arrival, and Music Please. The filly is consigned by Rick Lopez Training and Sales. 

Tuesday’s fastest time at a quarter-mile came from two horses who each breezed in 20 4/5 seconds.

- Hip 234, a first-crop Prospective filly out of the unraced Tale of the Cat mare Catomaria, whose three foals to race are all winners. The Florida-bred’s extended family includes multiple Grade 2 winners Del Mar Dennis and Forty Niner Days, as well as Italian Group 1-placed Mata Keranjang. Blue River Bloodstock consigns the filly, as agent.

- Hip 377, a first-crop Violence colt out of the unplaced Street Cry mare Dying to Dance, who is the dam of two winners from three runners. His extended family includes English and Irish champion Mrs. Penny, French Group 3 winner Villadolide, and Shrewd Idea, who is Group 1-placed in France and Germany. Top Line Sales consigns the colt, as agent.

The OBS spring sale breeze show continues daily through Saturday, starting each day at 8 a.m. Eastern. The auction will be held April 25-28 with a 10:30 a.m. start time.
