First foal for Arkansas Derby winner Archarcharch arrives
Email
Grade 1 winner Archarcharch was represented by his first foal on Jan. 12, a filly born at September Farm in Versailles, Ky.
Out of the unraced Kingmambo mare Enfiraaj, the filly was bred by Robert and Val Yagos, who campaigned Archarcharch.
"She's an impressive filly–strong foal, good bone and has been perfect so far," Robert Yagos said. "You couldn't ask for a horse with more heart than Archarcharch, and obviously he was very talented. We wanted to support his stallion career, and we made it a point to go to the sales and buy some quality young mares that were due early and would match up well with him."
Enfiraaj, dam of one winner from two to start, is out of Group 2 winner Sayedah.
Archarcharch, a 5-year-old Arch horse, broke his maiden in the 2010 Sugar Bowl Stakes. The following spring, he won the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes, finished third in the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes, and won the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby to earn a berth in the starting gate for the Kentucky Derby. However, he sustained a career-ending injury when 15th in the classic. Overall, he won three of seven starts for earnings of $832,744.
Out of the Woodman mare Woodman's Dancer, Arch entered stud at Spendthrift Farm for a fee of $10,000 in 2012. He will stand for the same fee this year.
