Finsceal Beo back with females

Promising Lead can land Group 1 laurels at the Curragh on Saturday in the 1 1/4-mile $391,000 Pretty Polly Stakes at the expense of Finsceal Beo, who returns to female competition after two sharp efforts against colts.

Trained by Michael Stoute, Promising Lead, a daughter of Danehill, took no prisonesrs in her 2008 debut at York on May 15, winning the 1 5/16-mile Group 3 Middleton Stakes by 3 3/4 lengths.

A two-time 1000 Guineas winner at 3, Finsceal Beo is back after finishing a close third to Haradasun and Darjina in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot just 12 days ago.

Previously second to Duke of Marmalade in the 1 5/16-mile Tattersalls Gold Cup here at the Curragh, she is dropping down in class a bit but stepping back up in distance after the one-mile Queen Anne. A Jim Bolger-trained daughter of Mr. Greeley, Finsceal Beo should give the choice all she can handle with Kevin Manning on board.

Group 2 winner Anna Pavlova and Group 3 winners Ice Queen and Marjalina could be in the mix, but the filly with the greatest room for improvement is the Dermot Weld-trained Mad About You, who was recently promoted to second in the Irish 1000 Guineas.
