Ruby's Rocket (3) owned by Timothy Murphy and David Brown edges Buck Mountain in the 26th running of the $50,000 Susan B. Anthony Handicap.

Ruby's Rocket, the second-longest shot on the board after losing her last 10 starts, woke up at the right time and scored a major surprise in the $50,000 at Finger Lakes.

Sent off at 30-1 in a field of eight New York-bred fillies and mares, Ruby's Rocket ($63.50) rallied under jockey Chin Yang to take the lead from Storm on the Lake entering the turn and held off a late outside bid by Buck Mountain to prevail by three-quarters of a length.

A 5-year-old mare trained by Tim Murphy, Ruby's Rocket covered the six furlongs in 1:10.59. It was her eighth win in 28 lifetime starts, but her first since she took a 4 1/2-furlong allowance in April 2004. She was sixth at 22-1 in last year's Susan B. Anthony.

Buck Mountain settled for second with Flora Mac Flimsey, a 45-1 outsider, third.

So Sweet a Cat, a two-time stakes winner last season but idle since October, finished sixth as the 7-5 favorite. Travelator, who would have been a heavy favorite, was among three scratches.

In the co-featured George W. Barker Stakes, Top Shoter ($2.40) cruised to a 7 1/2-length win in a near-repeat of his victory in last year's running.
