Finger Lakes: Precisepursuit upsets

Precisepursuit seemed to have two strikes against her going into the $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile Fillies: She had been all out to win her maiden in mediocre time in her last start, and that race had come more than two months ago. Accordingly, Precisepursuit was sent off at 16-1 in the six-furlong race for 2-year-old fillies.

But Precisepursuit looked more like a favorite than a double-digit longshot, catching odds-on favorite Blushing Marian in the final furlong and drawing off to a 2 3/4-length score under Jennifer Schmidt. Bella Dorato rallied for third in the nine-filly field, two lengths behind Blushing Marian.

Precisepursuit, part of an entry owned by David Brown and trainer Timothy Murphy, covered the six furlongs in 1:11.85 and paid $34.
