Mom’s Law, beaten a combined 36 1/2 lengths in her last three starts, rallied along the rail under Jeremias Flores to upset Saturday’s $50,000 Jack Betta Be Rite Handicap for New York-bred fillies and mares at Finger Lakes. Saving ground throughout the 1 1/16-mile race while racing seven lengths behind after the first half-mile, Mom’s Law ($50) overtook pacesetter Miss Rubycubes, recent winner of the New York Oaks, approaching the eighth pole and held off a late charge from 9-1 outsider Senora Dubai to prevail by a neck. It was another three-quarters of a length back to Shesabronxbomber, the 9-5 favorite. The winning time on a fast track was 1:47.34. It was the first stakes win for Mom’s Law, a 4-year-old daughter of Andromeda’s Hero trained by Michael Lecesse for a partnership of Lecesse and My Purple Haze Stable, since last year’s New York Oaks. Overall, she is 5 for 14 for earnings of $126,227.
