Finger Lakes Juvenile Fillies wide open

Based on breeding and the interest attracted at auction, Police Woman and Cool Paradigm may have the most potential among an evenly matched group of 12 for Saturday's $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile Fillies at six furlongs.

Police Woman, trained by Eric Reed, is a daughter of Officer, this year's leading sire of 2-year-olds. Among 30 horses sired by Officer to race in 2006, 17 have won, including four in stakes.

Police Woman has been racing in West Virginia, where she decisively won her maiden in July and most recently just missed in a first-level allowance.

Cool Paradigm is a New York-bred daughter of Outofthebox, whose stud fee is a modest $7,500. Yet, when she was put through the ring at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. this past April, Cool Paradigm sold for $55,000.

In her second start, on Sept. 10 at Belmont Park, Cool Paradigm drew off by 4o1/2 lengths against statebred maidens.

Also intriguing are The Emmanator, who is 3 for 3 for Penn National-based trainer Stephanie Beattie, and Shananies Song, who most recently came from off the pace to finish second in a first-level allowance at Delaware Park. Shananies Song's performance came on a day when front-runners held a distinct advantage.
