Finger Lakes cancels Monday card

The live racing card for Monday at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack has been canceled.

The track said that the severe winter has resulted in fewer horses than usual being ready to race, and that the Monday card was being eliminated to "stabilize the remaining days of the schedule early in the season."

Racing is scheduled to resume on Tuesday.

Just curious - how many folks attend a typical Monday program ?

It isn't how many attend, it is the million + handle they get on Mondays and Tuesdays because of all the OTB money.

This is a common problem every year at this track. They haven't figured out to only race 3 days a week in April. There aren't a lot of horses who want the 4.5 furlong distance. Also they don't allow enough training time to get these horses ready for opening day. Each year in April the races are hard to fill, and that makes for short fields, along with small pools

what a great Concept!!! If you don't have enough horses ready to perform why race. Great Idea wish more tracks could figure that one out
