Filly qualifies in record time

Ruidoso Futurity winner Heartswideopen recorded the fastest 440 yards ever by a filly or mare when she set the fastest qualifying time of 20.921 seconds in the All American Futurity trials on Thursday at Ruidoso Downs.

Her time was also the all-time fastest qualifying time to the All American Futurity, eclipsing the 20.993-second qualifying time of AB What a Runner in 2002. AB What a Runner went on to win that year's All American Futurity.

A total of 18 trials were contested, with the 10 fastest times qualifying to race in the Grade 1, $1.9 million All American finals on Labor Day.

Two-time Grade 1 futurity winner Wild Six raced to the second-fastest qualifying time of 21.051. She is undefeated in six starts with wins in the Grade 1, $625,000 Rainbow Futurity and the Grade 1, $266,000 West Texas Futurity.

The remaining qualifiers and their times were Sure I Fly (21.152 seconds), Coronas Fast Dash (21.183), Captain Courage (21.363), Strong Hope (21.402), Libbys Feature (21.414), SF Royal Bank (21.417), Greatful Heart (21.438), and Royal Holland Line (21.447).
