Filly has strong family connections

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - A full field of 11 2-year-old fillies line up in the fillies division of the CTHS Sales Stakes at Hastings Sunday. It's a wide-open affair, but if One of the Feu is as good as a couple of her siblings, she could be tough to beat. The 6 1/2-furlong race is restricted to Canadian-bred fillies that have gone through a Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society Sale.

One of the Feu showed a lot of potential with a smart come-from-behind win when she made her debut in a 3 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race Aug. 7. A daughter of Feu d'Enfer, she is certainly bred well enough. She's a full sister to multiple stakes winners Win a Feu and Feutoomany. Feutoomany actually won the colts and geldings division of this race as a 2-year-old and Win a Feu finished third in the fillies division.

Trained by Pat Jarvis, One of the Feu looked very sharp in her five-furlong work Sept. 4. She will be ridden by Richard Hamel.

Typical of a horse trained by Dave Forster, Kinda Sassy took a big step forward in her second start to win a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race Aug. 27. Kinda Sassy is the only horse in the race to have won at 6 1/2 furlongs.

Chad Hoverson will ride.

Poet Lori broke poorly when she was favored in Kinda Sassy's race. She made a strong move to reach contention at the quarter pole before tiring in the stretch. She showed good speed in her previous start, and it wouldn't be surprising to see her right on the lead.
