Filly fastest at Ocala show

A filly by Exchange Rate worked an eighth-mile in 9.80 seconds to lead Monday's results for an under-tack show at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s sales grounds in Florida.

The gray filly, who is out of the Dispersal mare Disperse a Star, was the only 2-year-old of 96 juveniles who worked an eighth of a mile on Monday to break 10 seconds. She is being consigned as Hip No. 276 by Niall Brennan, agent, to the sale company's March 2-year-old sale, which is scheduled for March 18-19.

The fastest juvenile to work a quarter of a mile was a colt by Yonaguska who went in 20.80 seconds. The colt is out of the Afternoon Deelites mare Noon Time Dancer and is also consigned by Niall Brennan, as agent for W.D. North and Niall Brennan Stables, as Hip No. 448.

Monday's under-tack show was the second of a two-day event. On Sunday, a filly by Forest Wildcat worked an eighth-mile in 9.80 seconds, and three juveniles went a quarter-mile in 21.20 seconds. The Forest Wildcat filly, out of Seeking Success, will sell as Hip No. 65.

The show began Sunday after being postponed from its original dates of Friday and Saturday because of high winds and flooding rains in the Ocala area.

Another two-day under-tack show is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, beginning each day at 9 a.m. All under-tack shows are at the sale company's facility in Ocala.- Matt Hegarty
