A filly by The Factor sold for $180,000 as Thursday’s second session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. June sale of 2-year-olds in training and horses of racing age sale was relatively quiet following a strong opening session the day before. Through the first two days of the three-session sale, a total of 323 horses have sold for gross receipts of $11,059,000, creating an average price of $34,238. That figure is tracking just under the 2017 final average of $35,733 for what was then a two-session sale. Wednesday’s opening session was strong at the top, fueled by three horses who surpassed the 2017 sale-topping price. With that strong start, the buyback rate for the session was 22 percent; Thursday’s offerings returned to their consignors at a 28 percent rate. :: Get breeding & sales news, Beyer info, and more delivered right to your email! The filly, who was consigned by Ciaran Dunne's Wavertree Stables, as agent, is out of the stakes-winning Unusual Heat mare America's Friend, the dam of two winners from four starters. The mare is a full sister to Grade 1-placed stakes winner Bel Air Sizzle, as well as to Grade 2-placed Starspangled Heat.
