Fillies head Prix de la Foret

French fillies like Six Perfections and Nebraska Tornado have played a major role in European Group 1 competition this year. Sunday's Prix de la Foret at Longchamp could be the setting for another victory by the females over their male rivals.

Etoile Montante and Intercontinental head the filly challenge in the $176,000 seven-furlong race in which five of their nine challengers are British-trained colts, horses, or geldings.

A listed winner last time over the Foret course and distance, Etoile Montante, trained by Criquette Head-Maarek, is best judged by her close third behind Musical Chimes and Maiden Tower in the French 1000 Guineas.

Intercontinental, a full sister to Banks Hill and Hasili, has been a bit of a disappointment for Andre Fabre this year, but she could score on a repeat of her third behind Russian Rhythm and Six Perfections in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.
