This field shouldn't mind mud

ALBANY, Calif. - Chilean-bred Se Me Acabo will meet some of northern California's most consistent mares Sunday in the $60,000-added Camilla Urso Handicap.

The six-furlong race attracted a field of seven, including stakes winners Bullish Miss, De Goddaughter, Fertile, and Posadas.

Se Me Acabo was fifth in her United States debut in the Grade 2 A Gleam Handicap at Hollywood Park on July 14. She subsequently finished third in the Grade 2 Clement Hirsch Handicap - behind Azeri and Angel Gift - and the Piedra Foundation Handicap at Del Mar.

When the race was drawn Friday, the track was sloppy with more rain predicted before tapering off Saturday.

An off track shouldn't bother Se Me Acabo, whose four career victories were all accomplished on wet tracks in her native Chile.

The possibility of an off track doesn't seem to be a concern to the connections of most entrants.

"Mine have won on off tracks before," said trainer Jeff Bonde, who will saddle De Goddaughter and Fertile.

"I'm not sure what type of off track we'll have Sunday," said trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, who will run Bullish Miss.

Gifted Daughter won in the mud here last year, and Onslaught is 2 for 2 on off tracks here.

Only Posadas, winner of the Bangles and Beads at Fairplex two starts back, hasn't run on an off track.

Bullish Miss and De Goddaughter both come in into the race off stakes victories.

Bullish Miss earned her first career stakes victory in the C.H. Russell Handicap in her last start on Oct. 20 at Bay Meadows.

De Goddaughter won the Autumn Leaves Handicap on Oct. 6 at Bay Meadows, edging stablemate Aunt Sophie by a head with Bullish Miss third, beaten a length.

De Goddaughter unveiled a new off-the-pace style in winning the Autumn Leaves. She has been running in routes and will likely have to come from off the pace when sprinting.

Fertile, a 3-year-old, won the Vallejo Handicap in the slop here in February. She won the Nursery Handicap at Hollywood Park as a 2-year-old and has trained well for her comeback with three bullet works in her past four drills. She has not run since finishing third against older in the Woodside Handicap at Bay Meadows on May 4.
