Field of 10 drawn for SA Derby


Atswhatimtalknbout leads a field of 10 horses entered for Saturday's 66th running of the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby. Atswhatimtalknbout, the runner-up finisher in the Grade 2 San Felipe, drew post 6 is listed as the 9-5 favorite under jockey David Flores in the Southern California's final prep race for the Kentucky Derby.

The top challengers in the Santa Anita Derby will include San Felipe winner Buddy Gil, and multiple stakes winner Kafwain, who exits a second-place finish in last month's Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds. Buddy Gil drew post four and is listed as the 5-2 second choice with Gary Stevens aboard. Kafwain drew the eight post and is the third choice on the morning-line at 4-1 with Pat Valenzuela to ride.

The loaded 10-horse field also includes top Northern California Derby hopefuls Ocean Terrace (post 1, 6-1) and Ministers Wild Cat (post 5, 10-1). Ocean Terrace and Ministers Wild Cat exit a 1-2 finish in the Grade 3 El Camino Real Derby at Golden Gate.

The field is completed by Indian Express (post 2, 30-1), Iron Lad (post 3, 50-1), Flirt With Fortune (post 7, 30-1), Logician (post 9, 15-1), and beaten San Felipe favorite Domestic Dispute (post 10, 15-1).
