Fick to become Jockey Club exec

Dan Fick has resigned as executive director of racing of the American Quarter Horse Association to accept a position as executive vice president and executive director of The Jockey Club, according to a memo sent to members of the AQHA racing committee.

Fick's departure date from the AQHA has not been established, according to the memo, a copy of which was obtained by Daily Racing Form. No official announcement of Fick's appointment is expected to be made by The Jockey Club until a meeting of its board of stewards on Feb. 6.

During Fick's tenure, the AQHA has expanded its racing involvement, including the establishment of the MBNA America Challenge Championship.
