Snowday returned $17 in winning the My Frenchman Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.

Snowday wrested command after a quarter-mile and went on to a decisive 2 3/4-length victory Saturday in the $60,000 My Frenchman Stakes at Monmouth Park in Oceanport, N.J.

Trainer Willard Thompson gave the mount to a fellow longtime Monmouth veteran, Jose Ferrer, on Snowday, a 7-year-old French-bred gelding owned by Quiet Winter Farm.

Snowday, now a five-time winner from 32 career starts, returned $17 after finishing 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:02.27 over a firm turf. He was coming off a win in a June 5 starter allowance at Parx Racing.

Simon Bar Sinister got a good inside stalking trip and settled for second, another two lengths before 47-1 shot Black Jet in a field of nine older horses.

The top three My Frenchman favorites all fared poorly, accounting for the $2 exacta (1-3) paying $90, the $1 trifecta (1-3-5) returning $718.40, and the 10-cent superfecta (1-3-5-8) being worth $639.01.

The win was the third of the 10-race card for Ferrer, a winner of more than 4,100 races since starting his career 35 years ago in the U.S.
