Ferraro liable to repeat at Finger Lakes

Vintage Tough, who improved dramatically when adding Lasix, will attempt to give trainer Michael Ferraro his second straight win in the Finger Lakes Juvenile Fillies on Saturday.

Ferraro, who won last year's Juvenile Fillies with Say Toba Sandy, sent out Vintage Tough to score a wire-to-wire victory over New York-bred maidens by 1 3/4 lengths on Sept. 28 at Belmont Park. Her 71 Beyer Speed Figure is the best last-race number in a field of 11 for the six-furlong Juvenile Fillies.

The second-best Beyer belongs to the Steve Klesaris-trained Haley's Lolipop. She came from off the pace and won her career debut at Philadelphia Park, then rallied mildly to finish fourth of six, beaten less than two lengths, in the $200,000 NATC Futurity at Monmouth Park, earning a 67 Beyer.

Fabulous Florence remains a maiden after four starts, but showed a new dimension last time when she flashed high speed and just missed. She has finished second three times, including in the $156,000 Lady Finger.
