Fearless Cowboy holds on in Colin

Fearless Cowboy ($8.30) held off favored Who's Big Daddy in the final strides to take the $155,300 Colin Stakes for 2-year-olds at Woodbine.

Solve the Code darted out to a clear lead in the six-furlong dash, before Fearless Cowboy and Who's Big Daddy loomed into contention on the turn. Fearless Cowboy hit the front early in the stretch and opened up a daylight lead at the eighth pole before digging in to prevail by a neck, in a time of 1:10.88.

Always Wildcatin' finished two lengths behind the winner in third. Grittani was scratched, reducing the field to seven.

Slade Callaghan rode Fearless Cowboy for trainer Sandra Dominguez.

"This horse ran really well," Callaghan said. "Halfway down the lane, I thought he could have been beaten, but when he saw the other horse coming on the outside, he really dug in and fought. He's wasn't going to let him go by at all."

For winning his first stakes, Fearless Cowboy banked $90,000 for owner/breeder Gulf Coast Farm.

* Just Rushing ($9.30) came wide from a stalking position to capture the $100,400 Ontario Jockey Club Stakes by a neck over favored Sterwins. With Emma Wilson aboard, Just Rushing covered seven furlongs on the grass in 1:20.66.
