Favorite Minit takes Southern Beau


BOSSIER CITY, La. - Favorite Minit made it two wins in as many starts as he held on to win Sunday's inaugural running of the . A late rally by Saucey Tiger came up a half length short as that one settled for second followed by Z Storm, who was another five and a half lengths back in third.

The winner is a homebred owned by Maurice and Evelyn Benoit's Brittlyn Stable and is trained by Doris Hebert. Favorite Minit ($5.00), a son of Favorite Trick out of the Malagra mare Minit Towinit won at first asking at Evangeline Downs by ten expanding lengths as the heavy favorite. He covered Sunday's five and a half furlongs in 1:05.20 over a fast track and was ridden by Steve Bourque.
