Favored Stolis Winner wins All American

RUIDOSO, N.M. - Stolis Winner, the 9-5 favorite, pulled away from 5-2 second-choice Jet Black Patriot to win the 50th running of the Grade 1, $1.9 million All American Futurity by a half-length on Monday at Ruidoso Downs.

Jockey G.R. Carter Jr. pushed Stolis Winner over the 440 yards in 21.17 seconds for the gelding's third Grade 1 futurity win. He won the Grade 1, $1 million Heritage Place Futurity at Remington Park and the Grade 1, $625,000 at Ruidoso Downs.

"It was a two-horse race," said Carter after his second All American Futurity win. "Stolis Winner got his head in front and I got into him a little about halfway. I didn't want to take any chances."

The $1 million first-place check boosted Stolis Winner's earnings to $1,789,467 to make him the all-time leading money earning 2-year-old Quarter Horse. He is in eighth place on the all-time leading money earners' list.

Jess Zoomin finished third.

* The $170,504 that Heartswideopen earned for finishing second in Sunday's $1.06 million All American Derby increased her career total to $1,885,283. She is $241,026 away from equaling Refrigerator's all-time Quarter Horse earnings mark of $2,126,309.
